A total of 19,570,600 shares in 1,428 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 1,074,950,552.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Wednesday, May 6), today’s data shows 48% decline in volume, 35% decline in turnover, but 7% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.17 trillion.

In the aggregate, 46 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 11 ✅ gainers and 26 ? losers.

Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] led the gainers with ✅ 7.14% share price appreciation closing at KES 0.30 per share, followed by:

✅Kenya Airways Plc [KQ] (+7.08%),
✅Liberty Kenya Holdings [LBTY] (+5.82%)
✅ Sasini Plc [SASN] (+3.13%).

On the losing side, STANLIB Fahari Income REIT [FAHR] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?6.98% at KES 8.00 per share, followed by:

?KCB Group Plc [KCB] (-6.44%),
?Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (-5.36%)
?Safaricom Plc [SCOM] (-5.09%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 6.6 million traded shares, followed by
➖Equity Group Plc [EQTY] (4.53m),
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (2.38m)
➖British American Tobacco (Kenya) Plc [BAT] (1.8m).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] ?declined points to close at 142.80

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined ? 18.89 points to close at 2041.22

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined ?112.62 points to close at 3399.29

The Derivatives market had three contracts valued at Kes 119,000 concluded at the end of today’s trading session. This was lower in value as compared to yesterday’s three contracts valued at Kes 89,900.

The secondary Bond market at the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a rise in activity with bonds worth Kes 2.27 Billion trading in 94 deals, as compared to yesterday’s turnover of Kes 1.57 Billion which was achieved in 106 deals.
