A total of 14,697,900 shares in 892 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 404,972,939.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Wednesday, August 4), today’s data shows 152% improvement in volume, 175% improvement in turnover, and 1% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.67 trillion.

In the aggregate, 45 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 22 ✅gainers and 17 ?losers.

Bank of Kigali (BK) Group [BKG] led the gainers with ✅7.06% share price appreciation closing at KES 31.85 per share, followed by:

✅BOC Kenya Plc [BOC] (+4.03%)
✅Uchumi Supermarket Plc [UCHM] (+4.00%)
✅Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation [KNRE] (+3.08%).

On the losing side, Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 6.53% at KES 3.15 per share, followed by:

?Trans Century Plc [TCL] (-5.19%)
?Sanlam Kenya Plc [SLAM] (-5.17%)
?Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] (-3.63%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 7.34 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation [KNRE] (3.56m)
➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company [KPLC] (2.11m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (366,300).

➡️The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] gained ✅0.52 points to close at 175.89
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained ✅1.37 points to close at 1,974.95
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅7.32 points to close at 3,871.97

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a rise in turnover during Monday’s trading session, with 18 single stock futures contracts valued at Kes 810,430 concluded, compared to the 18 contracts valued at Kes 754,550 concluded on the previous session.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the NSE posted growth in activity for the second straight session with bonds worth Kes 6.78 billion transacted in 165 deals as compared to the Kes 4.72 billion worth of bonds achieved in  132 deals in the preceding session
