At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE)

A total of 3,822,200 shares in 781 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 104,046,357.00, were traded. 

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, April 8), today’s data shows a 38% decline in volume, a 36% decline in turnover, and a 6% decline in deals. 

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.41 trillion.

In the aggregate, 45 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 18 gainers and 18 losers. 

Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] led the gainers with a ✅5.88% share price appreciation closing at KES 0.18 per share, followed by:

✅HF Group Plc [HFCK] (+5.26%)
✅TotalEnergies Kenya Plc [TOTL] (+4.35%) 
✅Home Afrika Plc [HAFR] (+2.78%).

On the losing side, Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻9.42% at KES 4.52 per share, followed by:

🔻Car and General Kenya Plc [CGEN] (-8.93%)
🔻Eveready East Africa Plc [EVRD] (-4.71%) 
🔻ILAM Fahari Income REIT [FAHR] (-4.62%). 

Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] recorded the highest volume of 711,800 traded shares, followed by:

➖Safaricom Plc [SCOM] (654,600)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (496,200) 
➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (436,600).

➡️The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] declined 🔻2.29 to close at 154.99
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined 🔻4.09 points to close at 1846.80
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined 🔻24.42 points to close at 3541.22

Bonds & Derivatives Performance on the NSE

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted gains in activity, compared to Friday’s trading, with bonds valued at Kes 2.65 billion transacted in 67 deals compared to the Kes 3.01 billion worth of bonds achieved in 97 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

The derivatives of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NEXT) posted an increase in activity, with 25 single stock futures and one index futures contract valued at Kes 383,020 concluded as compared to the 2 contracts valued at Kes 69,000 transacted in the previous trading session.
