CIC Introduces Global Balanced Special Fund: $1,000 Entry, 3-Day Withdrawals

CIC Asset Management has launched the CIC Global Balanced Special Fund, a medium to high-risk investment multi-asset strategy fund. The investment fund is set to invest in an array of asset classes such as equities, corporate bonds, government bonds, money market instruments, and eligible Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) worldwide.

The Global Balanced Special Fund has a minimum initial investment of USD 1,000 with a minimum top-up of USD 100. The lock-in period is 6 months from the initial deposit and all top-ups effected within these 6 months will similarly be locked in. The minimum account balance for the Fund has been set at USD 1,000. Investors in the Balanced Special Fund will incur a fund management fee of 2.5% annually.

Payments and Withdrawals

Income earned by the fund is retained in the NAV (Net Asset Value) which grows over time and further compounds. The minimum withdrawal amount is USD 10, and investors wishing to withdraw their funds can do so after the end of the initial 6 months lock in period. Withdrawals from the fund can take up to 3 business days.

The launch of the CIC Global Balanced Special Fund adds to other Funds under the CIC Unit Trust Scheme including the Money Market Fund, Balanced Fund, Fixed Income Fund, CIC Equity Fund, CIC Wealth Fund, CIC Dollar Fund.

CIS AUM Exceed KES 500B, CIC nears KES 100B

As of March 2025, data from the Capital Markets Authority indicated that the total Assets Under Management (AUM) by Collective Investment Schemes (CIS) were KES 496.2B, up 28% from KES 389.2B in December 2024, and up 120.2% from KES 225.4B in March 2024. For CIC Unit Trust Scheme, the total AUM stood at KES 87.5 as compared to KES 82.5 in December 2024, marking a growth of 6.1%.

In March 2024, the AUM was KES 61.9B, bringing the year-on-year growth to March 2025 to KES 25.6B in absolute terms, or representing a growth rate of 41.4%. The robust growth in the AUM by the schemes is attributed to the growth in the assets managed by funds under already existing Collective Investment Schemes, as well as new funds established and licensed to operate in the country.
