A total of 9,042,500 shares in 1,021 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 275,028,913.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, January 7), today’s data shows 20% improvement in volume, 13% improvement in turnover, and 10% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.58 trillion.

In the aggregate, 48 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 12 ✅gainers and 26 🔻losers.

Car and General Kenya Plc [CGEN] led the gainers with ✅9.85% share price appreciation closing at KES 40.70 per share, followed by:

✅ILAM Fahari Income REIT [FAHR] (+5.33%)
✅BK Group Plc [BKG] (+3.45%)
✅Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] (+2.02%).

On the losing side, Sanlam Kenya Plc [SLAM] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻9.09% at KES 10.50 per share, followed by:

🔻Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (-8.7%)
🔻Eveready East Africa Plc [EVRD] (-7.45%)
🔻Flame Tree Group Holdings [FTGH] (-4.62%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 4.63 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Absa Bank Kenya Plc [ABSA] (969,300)
➖Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation [KNRE] (652,000)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (622,000).

➡️The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] shed 🔻3.64 points to close at 168.10
➡️The NSE 20 Share shed 🔻7.84 points to close at 1912.54
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index shed 🔻51.13 points to close at 3768.91

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a rise in value, compared to Friday’s trading, with bonds valued at Kes 1.95 billion transacted in 42 deals compared to the Kes 871.6 million worth of bonds achieved in 41 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a decline in activity with 7 single stock features valued at Kes 296,200 traded during today’s trading session compared to the 7 single stock features valued at Kes 310,910 traded during the previous trading session.
