At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE),

A total of 39,676,100 shares in 1,165 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 991,312,867.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Thursday, July 30), today’s data shows 163% improvement in volume, 132% improvement in turnover, and 7% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 1.94 trillion.

In the aggregate, 42 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 14 ✅ gainers and 20 ? losers.

Nairobi Business Ventures Plc [NBV] led the gainers with✅ 8.33% share price appreciation closing at KES 0.65 per share, followed by;

✅Carbacid Investments Plc [CARB] (+7.59%),
✅Trans Century Plc [TCL] (+6.01%)
✅Housing Finance Company Plc [HFCK](+4.12%).

On the losing side, East African Cables Plc [CABL] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?5.51% closing at KES 2.23 per share, followed by;

?Stanbic Holdings Plc [SBIC] (-4.8%),
?Safaricom Plc [SCOM] (-4.62%)
?Centum Investment Company [CTUM] (-3.9%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 30.9 million traded shares, followed by;

➖Absa Bank Kenya Plc [ABSA] (3.23m),
➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (2.26m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB](852,800).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] declined ?2.72 points to close at 129.61

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined ?6.43 points to close at 1797,67

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined ?56.59 points to close at 3002.59

The derivatives market of the NSE had 8 contracts valued at Kes 219,800 concluded in today’s trading session. This was against the 5 contracts valued at Kes 141,500 concluded in previous trading session.

The secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a slump in activity during today’s session with bonds worth Kes 4.96 Billion achieved in 102 deals in today’s session as compared to the Kes 8.73 Billion achieved in 114 deals during the previous trading session.
