At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 13,103,300 shares in 875 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 385,114,992.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Monday, January 4), today’s data shows 51% improvement in volume, 59% improvement in turnover, and 21% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.29 trillion.

In the aggregate, 41 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 19 gainers and 15 losers.

BAT Kenya Plc [BAT] led the gainers with ✅6.65% share price appreciation closing at KES 385.00 per share, followed by:

✅HF Group Plc [HFCK] (+5.10%)
✅Centum Investment Company Plc [CTUM] (+3.95%)
✅East African Cables Plc [CABL] (+3.57%).

On the losing side, Bamburi Cement Plc [BAMB] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?4.38% at KES 38.20 per share, followed by:

?Nairobi Business Ventures Plc [NBV] (-3.66%)
?NCBA Group Plc [NCBA] (-3.20%)
?Eveready East Africa Plc [EVRD] (-3.15%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 7.7 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Absa Bank Kenya Plc [ABSA] (1.92m)
➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (905,700)
➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (879,200).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] gained ✅0.45 points to close at 152.49

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained ✅5.47 points to close at 1877.89

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅2.02 points to close at 3412.13

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange had 5 East African Breweries Plc single stock futures contracts valued at Kes 77,980 transacted. This was lower in transaction value as compared to the Kes 190,750 concluded in the previous trading session.

The secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted an decline in activity during today’s trading session with bonds worth Kes 811.20 million traded in 13 deals during today’s trading session as compared to the Kes 569.45 million achieved in 15 deals during the previous trading session.
