At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 10,419,100 shares in 865 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 496,572,789.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Wednesday, February 10), today’s data shows 44% decline in volume, 14% improvement in turnover, and 7% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.45 trillion.

In the aggregate, 43 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 20 gainers and 17 losers.

Total Kenya Plc [TOTL] led the gainers with ✅8.94% share price appreciation closing at KES 25.60 per share, followed by:

✅Olympia Capital Holdings [OCH] (+6.05%)
✅Express Kenya Plc [XPRS] (+5.26%)
✅I&M Holdings Plc [IMH] (+4.39%).

On the losing side, Nation Media Group Plc [NMG] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?6.86% at KES 12.90 per share, followed by:

?Eveready East Africa Plc [EVRD] (-4.35%)
?Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (-3.57%)
?CIC Insurance Group Plc [CIC] (-2.74%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 3.9 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (2.28m)
➖East African Breweries Plc [EABL] (836,200)
➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (671,900).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] gained ✅3.90 points to close at 162.50

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined ?3.15 points to close at 1882.68

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅60.79 points to close at 3588.76

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market recorded an decline during Thursday’s trading session with 4 contracts valued at kes 155,000 concluded as compared to the 7 contracts valued at kes 266, 100 traded during the previous trading session.

The secondary bond market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange has recorded a decline in activity during today’s trading session with bonds worth Kes 2.69 billion traded in 128 deals as compared to the Kes 6.01 billion achieved in 201 deals concluded in the previous trading session.
