At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 29,933,700 shares in 1,018 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 397,242,632.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Monday, June 22), today’s data shows 206% improvement in volume, 96% improvement in turnover, but 11% decline in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.13 trillion.

In the aggregate, 45 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 17 ✅gainers and 19 ?losers.

Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] led the gainers with ✅7.94% share price appreciation closing at KES 2.04 per share, followed by:

✅Sasini Plc [SASN] (+6.97%)
✅Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (+3.33%)
✅NCBA Group Plc [NCBA] (+3.15%).

On the losing side, Umeme Limited [UMME] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?9.11% closing at KES 7.78 per share, followed by:

?Flame Tree Group Holdings [FTGH] (-7.05%)
?Bamburi Cement Plc [BAMB] (-6.61%)
?Standard Group Plc [SGL] (-5.45%).

Kengen Plc [KGEN] recorded the highest volume of 10.5 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Absa Bank Kenya Plc [ABSA] (9.82m)
➖Safaricom Plc [SCOM] (2.41m)
➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (2.18m).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] dropped ?2.07 points to close at 140.47

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index dropped ?7.72 points to close at 1949.82

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index dropped ?28.83 points to close at 3269.51

The derivatives market had 5 contracts valued at Kes 146,850 concluded during today’s trading session. These were the first trades of the week. The Safaricom contract expiring in September was exercised at Kes 29.37. This is against an end of day price of Kes.29.45 posted in the spot market

The secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a rise in activity with bonds worth Kes 5.69 Billion achieved in 115 deals on the market as compared to the Kes 2.77 Billion achieved in 101 deals recorded during the previous trading session.
