At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange

A total of 3,929,300 shares in 1,079 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 79,770,230.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, July 23), today’s data shows 59% decline in volume, 77% decline in turnover, but 8% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.73 trillion.

In the aggregate, 51 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 24✅ gainers and 17? losers.

Car and General Plc [CGEN] led the gainers with 10% share price appreciation closing at✅ KES 35.20 per share, followed by:

✅Umeme Limited [UMME] (+6.56%)
✅ Jubilee Holdings Plc [JUB] (+3.92%)
✅ HF Group Plc [HFCK] (+3.64%).

On the losing side, Sanlam Kenya Plc [SLAM] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of? 8.19% at KES 10.65 per share, followed by:

? Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (-7.41%)
? TPS Eastern Africa Plc [TPSE] (-5.33%)
? ILAM Fahari IREIT [FAHR] (-5.31%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 754,600 traded shares, followed by:

➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (653,000)
➖ KenGen Plc [KEGN] (363,700)
➖ Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation[KNRE] (314,600).

➡️The benchmarks NSE All-Share Index [NASI] gained✅0.47 points to close at 179.45
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained✅0.33 points to close at 1982.24
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained✅16.29 points to close at 3911.79

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in activity during Today’s trading session, with 21 single stock futures contracts valued at Kes 211,950 concluded, compared to the 15 contracts valued at Kes 675,000 concluded on the previous session.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a rise in activity during today’s trading session with bonds worth Kes 5.40 billion transacted in 46 deals as compared to the Kes 4.24 billion worth of bonds achieved in  70 deals in the preceding session.
