At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 30,577,500 shares in 1,526 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 919,034,990.00, were traded. 

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Monday, May 30), today’s data shows a 497% improvement in volume, 642% improvement in turnover, and 33% improvement in deals. 

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2 trillion.

In the aggregate, 50 NSE-listed equities participated in trading, ending with 21 gainers and 18 losers. 

Diamond Trust Bank Kenya [DTK] led the gainers with 9.5% share price appreciation closing at KES 54.75 per share, followed by:

✅Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] (+8.62%)

✅Flame Tree Group Holdings [FTGH] (+7.41%)

✅Kapchorua Tea Company Plc [KAPC] (+7.30%). 

On the losing side, Co-operative Bank of Kenya [COOP] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 6.22% at KES 11.30 per share, followed by:

🔻TPS Eastern Africa Plc [TPSE] (-3.77%)

🔻Unga Group Plc [UNGA] (-3.33%) 

🔻NCBA Group Plc [NCBA] (-3.04%). 

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 20.1 million traded shares, followed by:

➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (4.03m)

➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (3.29m) 

➖Co-operative Bank of Kenya [COOP] (543,700).

➡️The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] dropped 🔻0.93 points to close at 128.75

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index dropped 🔻6.80 points to close at 1681.80

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index dropped 🔻21.92 points to close at 3055.90

Bonds & Derivatives Market Performance on the NSE.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in activity as compared to Monday’s trading, with bonds valued at Kes 1.91 billion transacted in 98 deals compared to the Kes 4.14 billion worth of bonds achieved in 99 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

The derivatives of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NEXT) had 1 Safaricom single stock futures contract valued at Kes 26,040 concluded in today’s trading session lifting the nil activity from the previous trading session.
