At the end of the last weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 32,859,300 shares in 1,196 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 1,030,474,010.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Thursday, April 23), today’s data shows 103% improvement in volume and 32% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.06 trillion.

In the aggregate, 48 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 14 ✅gainers and ?19 losers.

BOC Kenya Plc [BOC] led the gainers with ✅5.75% share price appreciation closing at KES 69.00 per share, followed by:

✅Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation [KNRE] (+4.42%)
✅East African Cables Plc [CABL] (+3.33%)
✅I&M Holdings Plc [IMH] (+2.5%).

On the losing side, STANLIB Fahari Income REIT [FAHR] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?9.28% closing at KES 8.02 per share, followed by:

?Home Afrika Plc [HAFR] (-7.14%)
?Kapchorua Tea Company Plc [KAPC] (-6.34%)
?Liberty Kenya Holdings Plc [LBTY] (-3.53%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 9.7 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (9.1m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (8.48m)
➖Kenya Airways Plc [KQ] (1.32m).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] declined?1.78 points to close at 135.78

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined?2.95 points to close at 1967.84

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined?20.50 points to close at 3175.45

The derivatives market remained flat with no contracts concluded in today’s trading session.

The secondary Bond market at the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a decrease in activity with bonds worth Kes 951.7 Million trading in 86 deals, as compared to yesterday’s turnover of Kes 1.40 Billion which was achieved in 97 deals.
