Markets Turned red today on continued profit taking.

A total of 23,208,400 shares in 1,078 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 543,555,039.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Thursday, July 16), today’s data shows 35% decline in volume, 41% decline in turnover, but 3% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 1.98 trillion.

In the aggregate, 47 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 18 ✅gainers and 16 ?losers.

Umeme Limited [UMME] led the gainers with ✅8.00% share price appreciation closing at KES 7.56 per share, followed by:

✅Williamson Tea Kenya Plc [WTK] (+6.82%)
✅TPS Eastern Africa Plc [TPSE] (+6.77%)
✅Kapchorua Tea Company Plc [KAPC] (+6.63%).

On the losing side, Trans Century Plc [TCL] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?6.75% closing at KES 2.35 per share, followed by:

?CIC Insurance Group Plc [CIC] (-3.29%)
?Longhorn Publishers Plc [LKL] (-2.66%)
?NCBA Group Plc [NCBA] (-2.51%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 10.7 million traded shares, followed by:

➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (3.43m)
➖Absa Bank Kenya Plc [ABSA] (2.94m)
➖Kengen Plc [KEGN] (2.08m)

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] gained ✅ 0.27 points to close at 132.25

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained ✅2.93 points to close at 1909.36

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅0.12 points to close at 3107.31

The Derivatives markets of the Nairobi Securities Exchange closed today’s session with no contracts concluded. This is from the 6 contracts valued at Kes 162,000 traded in yesterday’s trading session.

The secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a slump in today’s session with bonds worth Kes 2.24 Billion achieved in 63 deals in today’s session as compared to the Kes 4.00 Billion achieved in 109 deals during the previous trading session.
