A total of 31,632,200 shares in 1,023 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 1,162,403,301.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous trading day on the Nairobi Securities Exchange,(Tuesday, March 9), today’s data shows 73% improvement in volume and 131% improvement in turnover.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.45 trillion.

In the aggregate, 41 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 19 gainers and 19 losers.

Olympia Capital Holdings [OCH] led the gainers with ✅8.00% share price appreciation closing at KES 2.16 per share, followed by:

✅Liberty Kenya Holdings Plc [LBTY] (+7.52%)
✅Sasini Plc [SASN] (+5.57%)
✅Safaricom Plc [SCOM] (+3.87%).

On the losing side, Nation Media Group Plc [NMG] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?9.26% at KES 19.60 per share, followed by :

?Trans Century Plc [TCL] (-4.76%)
?Nairobi Securities Exchange Plc [NSE] (-3.31%)
?Eveready East Africa Plc [EVRD] (-1.79%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 15.4 million traded shares, followed by:

➖KenGen Plc [KEGN] (5.21m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (4.45m)
➖Equity Group Holdings [EQTY] (3.06m).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] gained ✅4.10 points to close at 162.70

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined ?6.80 points to close at 1915.14

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅66.18 points to close at 3606.07

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a decline in activity during today’s trading session, with 29 single stock futures contracts valued at Kes 816,150 concluded, compared to the 36 SSF contracts valued at Kes 1.33 million concluded on Tuesday.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a slump in activity during Wednesday’s trading session with bonds worth Kes 1.77 billion transacted in 68 deals as compared to the Kes 4.09 billion worth of bonds achieved in 53 deals in the preceding session.
