At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange

A total of 12,335,800 shares in 888 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 458,944,510.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, March 12), today’s data shows a 9% decline in volume but a 37% improvement in turnover.

The current Nairobi Securities Exchange market capitalization is KES 2.45 trillion.

In the aggregate, 46 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 13✅ gainers and 23? losers.

Nation Media Group Plc [NMG] led the gainers with ✅a 9.46% share price appreciation closing at KES 21.40 per share, followed by:

✅Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (+9.38%)
✅E. A Portland Plc [PORT]. (+7.25%)
✅Longhorn Publishers Plc [LKL] (+6.9%).

On the losing side, Liberty  Holdings Plc [LBTY] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of? 9.15% at KES 8.74 per share, followed by:

?Total Kenya Plc [TOTL] (-4.8%)
?CIC Insurance Plc [CIC] (-3.06%)
?Umeme Limited [UMME] (-2.94%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 7 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Centum Investments Plc [CTUM] (1.73m)
➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (679,800)
➖East African Breweries Plc [EABL] (563,100)

➡️The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] gained✅ 0.44 points to close at 162.52
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained✅ 3.33 points to close at 1926.37
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained✅ 1.19 points to close at 3618.98

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a  rise in activity during today’s trading session, with 22 single stock futures contracts valued at Kes 838,100 concluded, compared to the 2 SSF contracts valued at Kes 79,000 million concluded on the previous session

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a decline in activity during today’s trading session with bonds worth Kes 1.97 billion transacted in 26 deals as compared to the Kes 2.36 billion worth of bonds achieved in 65 deals in the preceding session.
