At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 18,889,300 shares in 1,187 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 640,813,550.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Monday, December 2), today’s data shows 104% improvement in volume, 159% improvement in turnover, and 65% improvement in deals. The NSE closed with a market capitalization is KES 2.41 trillion.

In the aggregate, 44 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 22 ✅gainers and 13 ?losers.

TPS Eastern Africa Plc [TPSE] led the gainers with ✅9.63% share price appreciation closing at KES 16.50 per share, followed by:

✅ BOC Kenya Plc [BOC] (+9.57%)
✅Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (+6.06%)
✅Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (+5.98%).

On the losing side, Stanbic Holdings Plc [SBIC] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?6.25% closing at KES 105.00 per share, followed by:

?WPP ScanGroup Plc [SCAN] (-5.88%)
?STANLIB Fahari Income REIT [FAHR] (-4.54%)
?Kenya Airways Plc [KQ] (-4.12%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 5.8 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (4.47m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (2.58m)
➖Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT](2.48m).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] gained ✅ 0.44 points to close at 158.90

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index dropped ?-5.27 points to close at 2635.43

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅7.57 points to close at 3939.61

The Derivatives Market had no trading activity today.

Corporate Actions: 

  • Central Bank of Kenya issued Treasury Bond offer-FXD3-2019-5. Dated: 16.12.2019

The NSE bond market had 90 deals worth Kes 1.23 Billion a drop in value from Yesterday’s 69 deals valued at Kes 1.22 Billion
