At the end of the last weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) this week.

NSE Market Report: Market Capitalization Hits KES 3 Trillion Amid Strong Turnover

A total of 47,256,600 shares in 813 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 1,665,761,267.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Thursday, December 19), today’s data shows 213% improvement in volume, 244% improvement in turnover, but 6% decline in deals. The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.49 trillion.

In the aggregate, 49 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 19 ✅gainers and 24 ?losers.

Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] led the gainers with ✅4.48% share price appreciation closing at KES 0.70 per share, followed by:

✅Kenya Airways Plc [KQ] (+4.46%)
✅Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT] (+3.41%)
✅British American Tobacco (Kenya) Plc [BAT] (+2.11%).

On the losing side, Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?-8.57% closing at KES 0.32 per share, followed by:

?Olympia Capital Holdings [OCH] (-7.73%)
?Liberty Kenya Holdings Plc [LBTY] (-5.17%)
?East African Portland Cement Company [PORT] (-3.45%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 36.5 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (6.92m)
➖Centum Investment Company Plc [CTUM] (1.27m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (909,300).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] gained ✅1.28 points to close at 163.90

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained ✅17.84 points to close at 2583.76

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅24.82 points to close at 4018.59

The Derivatives Market had no activity in today’s trading session. Next Week, the Derivatives Market will be introducing Barclays Bank as the 6th Single Stock Future traded on the exchange.

The secondary Bond market at the NSE had 82 deals worth Kes 1.90 Billion, an increase in value from Yesterday’s 67 deals valued at Kes 1.13 Billion
