At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 21,103,200 shares in 1,214 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 965,965,207.00, were traded. 

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Tuesday, May 31), today’s data shows a 31% decline in volume, a 5% improvement in turnover, but a 20% decline in deals. 

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.02 trillion.

In the aggregate, 49 NSE-listed equities participated in trading, ending with 23 gainers and 16 losers. 

Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] led the gainers with ✅9.79% share price appreciation closing at KES 4.15 per share, followed by:

✅Flame Tree Group Holdings [FTGH] (+8.62%)

✅Total Kenya Plc [TOTL] (+7.22%) 

✅WPP ScanGroup Plc [SCAN] (+5.96%). 

On the losing side, Olympia Capital Holdings [OCH] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻8.64% at KES 2.01 per share, followed by:

🔻Liberty Kenya Holdings Plc [LBTY] (-8.42%)

🔻Jubilee Holdings Plc [JUB] (-5.02%) 

🔻Uchumi Supermarket Plc [UCHM] (-5.00%). 

Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] recorded the highest volume of 9.96 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Safaricom Plc [SCOM] (7.62m)

➖Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT] (1.03m) 

➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (555,800).

➡️The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] dropped 🔻0.09 points to close at 128.66

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained ✅4.04 points to close at 1685.84

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index dropped 🔻4.53 points to close at 3051

Bonds & Derivatives Performance on the NSE.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a rise in activity as compared to Monday’s trading, with bonds valued at Kes 2.79 billion transacted in 87 deals compared to the Kes 1.91 billion worth of bonds achieved in 98 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

The derivatives of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NEXT) had 6 single stock futures valued at Kes 114,700 transacted compared to the 1 Safaricom single stock futures contract valued at Kes 26,040 concluded in the previous trading session.
