At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 9,151,400 shares in 1,176 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 364,561,756.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Monday, August 2), today’s data shows 30% improvement in volume, 60% improvement in turnover, and 15% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.66 trillion.

In the aggregate, 48 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 19 gainers and 22 losers.

Trans Century Plc [TCL] led the gainers with ✅8.73% share price appreciation closing at KES 1.37 per share, followed by:

✅Umeme Limited [UMME] (+5.21%)
✅Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (+5.11%)
✅Stanbic Holdings Plc [SBIC] (+4.12%).

On the losing side, Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?8.96% at KES 7.32 per share, followed by:

?Liberty Kenya Holdings Plc [LBTY] (-8.65%)
?TPS Eastern Africa Plc [TPSE] (-7.07%)
?East African Portland Cement Company [PORT] (-6.44%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 3.43 million traded shares, followed by:

➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (1.16m)
➖Bamburi Cement Plc [BAMB] (1.06m)
➖Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation [KNRE] (791,200).

➡️The benchmark All-Share Index [NASI] declined ?1.00 points to close at 175.16
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined ?0.65 points to close at 1972.00
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined ?27.85 points to close at 3862.24

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a rise in turnover during Monday’s trading session, with 26 single stock futures contracts valued at Kes 820,005 concluded, compared to the 19 contracts valued at Kes 793,500 concluded on the previous session.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a rise in activity during today’s trading session with bonds worth Kes 1.14 billion transacted in 87 deals as compared to the Kes 3.12 billion worth of bonds achieved in  67 deals in the preceding session
