At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE)

A total of 18,048,400 shares in 900 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 532,885,153.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, January 29), today’s data shows 21% decline in volume, 13% decline in turnover, and 6% decline in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.31 trillion.

In the aggregate, 43 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 10✅ gainers and 26? losers.

Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] led the gainers with✅ 7.33% share price appreciation closing at KES 1.61 per share, followed by:

✅Umeme Limited [UMME] (+4.50%)
✅Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (+3.57%)
✅Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (+1.92%).

On the losing side, Olympia Capital Holdings [OCH] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of? 8.33% at KES 2.20 per share, followed by:

?Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Plc [DTK] (-7.89%)
?Sasini Plc [SASN] (-4.76%)
?Trans-Century Plc [TCL] (-3.60%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 10.6 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Co-operative Bank of Kenya [COOP] (2.77m)
➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (1.36m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (1.21m).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] declined? 1.81 points to close at 153.78
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined? 6.95 points to close at 1874.96
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined? 22.47 points to close at 3412.05

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE.

There derivatives market of the NSE recorded a quite a decline in Monday’s trading session with 9 contracts valued at kes 139,500 concluded against the 28 contracts valued at kes 2.99 million traded during the previous trading session.

The secondary bond market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange has recorded a slight decline  in activity during today’s trading session with bonds worth Kes 5.91 billion traded in 122 deals as compared to the Kes 6.50 billion achieved in 94 deals in the previous trading session.
