At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 6,007,300 shares in 969 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 143,346,444.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Tuesday, September 8), today’s data shows 42% decline in volume, 19% decline in turnover, and 12% decline in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.06 trillion.

In the aggregate, 44 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with ✅19 gainers and ?13 losers.

Umeme Limited [UMME] led the gainers with ✅7.69% share price appreciation closing at KES 7.00 per share, followed by:

✅ East African Portland Cement Company [PORT] (+6.07%)
✅ Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT] (+5.78%)
✅Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation [KNRE] (+3.74%).

On the losing side, BOC Kenya Plc [BOC] Kenya came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?9.43% closing at KES 55.25 per share, followed by:

?Bank of Kigali Group Plc [BKG] (-8.51%)
? Flame Tree Group Holdings Plc [FTGH] (-4.51%)
?Stanbic Holdings Plc [SBIC] (-3.5%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 1.8 million traded shares, followed by:

➖CIC Insurance Group Plc [CIC] (315,600).

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅ 18.50 points to close at 3184.54

The derivatives market of the NSE had 4 contracts valued at kes 131,200 concluded in today’s trading session, this was against the 1 contract valued at Kes 29,000 transacted in the previous trading session.

The secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a decrease in activity during today’s session with bonds worth Kes 4.01 billion transacted in 120 deals in as compared to the Kes 5.21 billion achieved in 135 deals posted in Tuesday’s trading session
