At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 15,364,200 shares in 886 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 405,805,919.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Monday, January 11), today’s data shows 139% improvement in volume, 107% improvement in turnover, and 21% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.32 trillion.

In the aggregate, 48 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 23 gainers and 16 losers.

Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation [KNRE] led the gainers with ✅7.2% share price appreciation closing at KES 2.68 per share, followed by:

✅Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] (+6.28%)
✅Olympia Capital Holdings [OCH] (+5.73%)
✅East African Cables Plc [CABL] (+3.7%).

On the losing side, Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?10.00% closing at KES 0.27 per share, followed by:

?Sanlam Kenya Plc [SLAM] (-4.00%)
?Flame Tree Group Holdings [FTGH] (-3.65%)
?ILAM Fahari Income REIT [FAHR] (-2.79%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 7.7 million traded shares, followed by:

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange had 5 single stock futures contracts valued at Kes 182,000 concluded. This was a decline in transaction value and deals as compared to the Kes 247,560 concluded in the previous trading session.

The secondary bond market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in activity during Monday’s trading session with bonds worth Kes 1.06 billion traded in 45 deals concluded as compared to the Kes 2.04 billion achieved in 68 deals during the previous trading session.
