At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 24,984,600 shares in 1,525 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 630,857,125.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Tuesday, May 12), today’s data shows 44% decline in volume, 62% decline in turnover, but 17% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.08 trillion.

In the aggregate, 47 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 12 ✅gainers and 24 ?losers.

Kenya Airways Plc [KQ] led the gainers with ✅9.87% share price appreciation closing at KES 1.67 per share, followed by:

✅Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (+9.09%)
✅Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] (+7.14%)
✅Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (+6.45%).

On the losing side, NCBA Group Plc [NCBA] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?10.70% at KES 28.80 per share, followed by:

?Liberty Kenya Holdings Plc [LBTY] (-8.05%)
?STANLIB Fahari Income REIT [FAHR] (-7.56%)
?Sanlam Kenya Plc [SLAM] (-6.25%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 10.5 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (4.03m)
➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (3.23m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (1.32m).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] declined ?2.05 points to close at 137.37

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined ? 42.71 points to close at 1996.28

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined ?69.70 points to close at 3250.40

There were no contracts concluded on the derivatives market in today’s trading session. This is against the Kes 712,200 turnover recorded in yesterday’s trading session.

Secondary trading on the bond market at the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded growth in activity with bonds worth Kes 1.80 Billion trading in 97 deals, as compared to yesterday’s turnover of Kes 1.44 Billion which was achieved in 119 deals.
