At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 17,691,500 shares in 1,032 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 550,645,107.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Tuesday, September 15), today’s data shows 54% improvement in volume, 82% improvement in turnover, but 3% decline in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.11 trillion.

In the aggregate, 47 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 16 ✅gainers and 21 ?losers.

Express Kenya Plc [XPRS] led the gainers with ✅9.26% share price appreciation closing at KES 4.84 per share, followed by:

✅HF Group Plc [HFCK] (+7.88%)
✅Bamburi Cement Plc [BAMB] (+7.25%)
✅Kengen Plc [KEGN] (+2.73%).

On the losing side, Umeme Limited [UMME] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?9.34% closing at KES 6.60 per share, followed by:

?Nation Media Group Plc [NMG] (-8.47%)
?Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] (-7.69%)
?Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT] (-4.23%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 13.6 million traded shares, followed by:

➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (526,400)
➖East African Breweries Plc [EABL] (451,900).

The derivatives market of the NSE had 21 contracts valued at kes 565,850 concluded in today’s trading session, this was quite an increase as compared the 2 contract valued at Kes 74,000 transacted in the previous trading session.

The secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a slump in  activity during today’s session with bonds worth Kes 2.66 billion transacted in 100 deals in as compared to the Kes 3.31 billion achieved in 74 deals posted in Tuesday’s trading session
