At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 16,981,300 shares in 1,150 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 415,477,048.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Tuesday, June 16), today’s data shows 12% decline in turnover but 9% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.2 trillion.

In the aggregate, 45 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 19 ✅gainers and 20 ?losers.

Car and General (Kenya) Plc [CGEN] led the gainers with ✅9.93% share price appreciation closing at KES 22.70 per share, followed by:

✅Home Afrika Plc [HAFR] (+8.89%)
✅Olympia Capital Holdings [OCH] (+7.46%)
✅Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (+4.62%).

On the losing side, Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?9.56% closing at KES 8.70 per share, followed by:

?Williamson Tea Kenya Plc [WTK] (-8.33%)
?Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (-7.80%)
?Diamond Trust Bank Kenya [DTK] (-6.76%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 5.4 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Absa Bank Kenya Plc [ABSA] (4m)
➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (1.62m)
➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (1.53m).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] gained ✅ 0.16 points to close at 144.90

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index dropped ?21.19 points to close at 2004.36

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅13.09 points to close at 3340.23

The Derivatives market of the NSE had 5 single stock futures contracts valued at Kes 101,750 concluded in today’s trading session. This is against the 15 contracts valued at Kes 436,510 concluded in the previous trading session.

The secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a decline in activity with bonds worth Kes 1.29 Billion achieved in 106 deals on the market as compared to the Kes 3.05 Billion achieved in 142 deals recorded during the previous trading session.
