At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE)

A total of 23,956,000 shares in 1,020 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 864,895,938.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Tuesday, January 19), today’s data shows 29% improvement in volume, 66% improvement in turnover, and 8% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.34 trillion.

In the aggregate, 39 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 8✅ gainers and 24? losers.

Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] led the gainers with✅ 6.45% share price appreciation closing at KES 1.65 per share, followed by:

✅ HF Group Plc [HFCK](+5.42%)
✅ I&M Holdings Plc [IMH] (+4.55%)
✅ Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT] (+2.19%).

On the losing side, Stanbic Holdings Plc [SBIC] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of? 7.5% at KES 74.00 per share, followed by:

? Uchumi Supermarket Plc [UCHM] (-7.41%)
? Longhorn Publishers Plc [LKL](-7.16%)
? Eveready E.A Plc [EVRD] (-6.84%)

Bamburi Cement Plc [BAMB] recorded the highest volume of 7.9 million traded shares, followed by:

➖ KCB Group Plc [KCB] (5.96m)
➖ Safaricom Plc [SCOM](4.65m)
➖ Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (3.36m)

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] declined ?1.52 points to close at 155.64
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined ?12.61 points to close at 1881.57
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined ?18.85 points to close at 3444.30

The derivatives market of the NSE posted a moderate decline in activity with 13 contracts concluded valued at Kes 472,050 as compared to the 2 contracts valued at Kes 669,000 achieved in the previous trading session.

The secondary bond market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted quite a  decline in activity during Wednesday’s  trading session with bonds worth Kes 419 million traded in 46 deals as compared to the Kes 1.57 billion achieved in 41 deals in the previous trading session.
