At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE)

A total of 15,555,200 shares in 1,015 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 562,469,876.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Wednesday, January 20), today’s data shows 35% decline in volume and 35% decline in turnover.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.32 trillion.

In the aggregate, 45 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 17✅ gainers and 22? losers.

Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] led the gainers with✅ 8.00% share price appreciation closing at KES 0.27 per share, followed by:

✅Bamburi Cement Plc [BAMB] (+7.86%)
✅Trans-Century Plc[TCL](+7.46%)
✅Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (+7.12%).

On the losing side, Umeme Limited [UMME] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of? 9.72% at KES 6.50 per share, followed by:

?Eveready E.A Plc [EVRD] (-5.50%)
?Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Plc [DTK][ (-4.32%)
?Crown Paints Plc [CRWN]  (-3.43%)

KCB Group Plc [KCB] recorded the highest volume of 5.4 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Safaricom Plc [SCOM] (3.98m)
➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (3.87m)
➖East African Breweries Plc [EABL] (350,100).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] declined ?1.47 points to close at 154.17
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained ✅7.32  points to close at 1888.89
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined ?19.20 points to close at 3425.10

The derivatives market of the NSE posted a rise in activity with 21 contracts concluded valued at Kes 754,750 as compared to the 13  contracts valued at Kes 472,050 achieved in the previous trading session.

The secondary bond market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a moderate rise  in activity during today’s  trading session with bonds worth Kes 611 million traded in 39 deals as compared to the Kes 419  billion achieved in 46 deals in the previous trading session.
