At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 10,966,400 shares in 829 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 260,886,742.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, August 21), today’s data shows 69% decline in volume, 63% decline in turnover, and 14% decline in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 1.99 trillion.

In the aggregate, 43 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 23 ✅gainers and 14 ?losers.

Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation [KNRE] led the gainers with ✅8.84% share price appreciation closing at KES 2.34 per share, followed by:

✅NCBA Group Plc [NCBA](+8.42%)
✅Bank of Kigali Group Plc [BKG] (+6.67%)
✅Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (+6.06%).

On the losing side, CIC Insurance Group Plc [CIC] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?4.29% closing at KES 2.01 per share, followed by:

?Umeme Limited [UMME] (-3.95%)
?Jubilee Holdings Plc [JUB] (-3.72%)
?Bamburi Cement Plc [BAMB] (-3.7%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 4.1 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Co-operative Bank of Kenya [COOP] (808,500)
➖ CIC Insurance Group Plc [CIC] (761,700).

The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] gained ✅0.77 points to close at 135.52

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained ✅24.45 points to close at 1748.40

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅30.96 points to close at 3044.29

In the derivatives market,the Equity Bank single stock futures contract expiring on 17th September was concluded at a price of Kes 33.04. This implied a turnover of Kes 33,040 on the derivatives segment.

The secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded an increase in activity during today’s session with bonds worth Kes 1.18 Billion transacted in 76 deals in as compared to the Kes 845.87 million achieved in 108 deals during the Friday’s trading session
