At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 23,506,400 shares in 944 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 796,751,520.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Tuesday, January 26), today’s data shows 306% improvement in volume, 314% improvement in turnover, and 18% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.36 trillion.

In the aggregate, 40 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 13 gainers and 19 losers.

Centum Investment Company Plc [CTUM] led the gainers with ✅5.92% share price appreciation closing at KES 17.00 per share, followed by:

✅TPS Eastern Africa Plc [TPSE] (+5.05%)
✅Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] (+2.72%)
✅Kengen Plc [KEGN] (+1.65%).

On the losing side, Home Afrika Plc [HAFR] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?7.32% at KES 0.38 per share, followed by:

?Total Kenya Plc [TOTL] (-5.86%)
?Umeme Limited [UMME] (-3.78%)
?Absa Bank Kenya Plc [ABSA] (-2.57%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 14.3 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (5.83m)
➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (755,500)
➖Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation [KNRE] (432,800).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] declined ?0.50 points to close at 156.95

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained ✅1.03 points to close at 1889.74

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined ?11.57 points to close at 3450.04

There were no contracts traded during today’s trading session on the derivatives markets of the NSE.

he secondary bond market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange has recorded a decine in activity during today’s trading session with bonds worth Kes 8.93 billion traded in 88 deals as compared to the Kes 10.0 billion achieved in 72 deals in the previous trading session.
