Today, the market turned lower as compared to yesterday's performance.

At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 16,890,900 shares in 771 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 502,494,291.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Monday, February 24), today’s data shows 82% improvement in volume, 73% improvement in turnover, and 5% improvement in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.38 trillion.

In the aggregate, 39 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 8 ✅gainers and 26 ?losers.

Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] led the gainers with ✅9.37% share price appreciation closing at KES 2.80 per share, followed by:

✅Flame Tree Group Holdings [FTGH] (+6.92%)
✅Home Afrika Plc [HAFR] (+4.65%)
✅Eveready Plc [EVRD] (+3.06%).

On the losing side, Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?8.60% closing at KES 7.44 per share, followed by:

?Bamburi Cement Plc [BAMB] (-7.81%)
?Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation [KNRE] (-7.33%)
?TPS Eastern Africa Plc [TPSE] (-7.32%)

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 7.8 million traded shares, followed by:

➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (3.03m)
➖Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation [KNRE] (1.72m)
➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (1.49m)

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] dropped ?1.38 points to close at 157.01

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index dropped ?51.50 points to close at 2452.05

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index dropped ?40.35 points to close at 3878.19

There were 2 KCB & 3 Safaricom contracts valued at Kes. 218,000 traded on the derivatives Market in today’s sessions a decline in daily turnover as compared to the two index contracts valued at Kes. 787,200 traded yesterday.

The secondary Bond market at the NSE recorded an increase in activity with bonds worth Kes 4.85 Billion traded in 127 deals, a rise in deals and in value on the Fixed income segment as compared to Yesterday’s 113 deals valued at Kes 1.06 Billion.
