At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) this week.

A total of 22,550,900 shares in 912 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 631,347,149.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, April 3), today’s data shows 4% improvement in volume.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.06 trillion.

In the aggregate, 41 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 18 ✅gainers and 17 ?losers.

Eveready Plc [EVRD] led the gainers with ✅8.97% share price appreciation closing at KES 0.85 per share, followed by:

✅TPS Eastern Africa Plc [TPSE] (+8.65%)
✅Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT] (+6.03%)
✅Carbacid Investments Plc [CARB] (+5.65%).

On the losing side, Eaagads Plc [EGAD] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?9.09% closing at KES 10.00 per share, followed by:

?Safaricom Plc [SCOM] (-4.17%)
?Co-operative Bank of Kenya [COOP] (-3.88%)
?Kenya Airways Plc [KQ] (-3.55%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 14.3 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (2.7m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (2.36m)
➖Co-operative Bank of Kenya [COOP] (1.66m).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] declined ?-3.16 points to close at 135.22

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained ✅3.02 points to close at 2016.20

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined ?-45.59 points to close at 3163.22

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange [NEXT] closed the with no transactions in today’s sessions.

Trading activities on secondary Bond market at the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a growth in activities with bonds worth Kes 1.91 Billion trading in 92 deals, as compared to Friday’s turnover of Kes 855.5 Million which was achieved in 61 deals.
