At the end of the last weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) this week. [13-Dec-19]

A total of 49,135,200 shares in 835 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 1,350,511,867.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Wednesday, December 11), today’s data shows 134% improvement in volume, 223% improvement in turnover, but 8% decline in deals. The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.44 trillion.

In the aggregate, 43 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 10 ✅gainers and 25 ?losers.

East African Cables Plc [CABL] led the gainers with ✅5.98% share price appreciation closing at KES 2.66 per share, followed by:

✅Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation [KNRE] (+3.33%)
✅Eveready Plc [EVRD] (+1.69%)
✅CIC Insurance Group Plc [CIC] (+1.35%)

On the losing side, Sasini Plc [SASN] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 6.10% closing at KES 16.15 per share, followed by:

?HF Group Plc [HFCK] (-6.10%)
?Standard Group Plc [SGL] (-5.66%)
?Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (-5.0%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 14.7 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (13.73m)
➖Carbacid Investments Plc [CARB](12.72m)
➖Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (5.86m).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] dropped ?0.08 points to close at 160.52

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index dropped ?10.58 points to close at 2587.84

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index dropped ?5.41 points to close at 3941.68

The Derivatives Market had no activity today and remains with the 40 open contracts .

The secondary Bond market at the NSE had 64 deals worth Kes 156.92 Million, a drop in value from Wednesday’s 39 deals valued at Kes 752.4 Million.
