At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) this week.

A total of 17,291,600 shares in 1,035 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 477,172,325.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, April 24), today’s data shows 47% decline in volume, 54% decline in turnover, and 13% decline in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.06 trillion.

In the aggregate, 42 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 18 ✅gainers and 17 ?losers.

Liberty Kenya Holdings Plc [LBTY] led the gainers with ✅3.66% share price appreciation closing at KES 8.50 per share, followed by:

✅ Jubilee Holdings Plc [JUB] (+3.04%)
✅Umeme Limited [UMME] (+2.91%)
✅Williamson Tea Kenya [WTK] (+2.45%).

On the losing side, Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?10.00% at KES 0.27 per share, followed by:

?Sasini Plc [SASN] (-6.47%)
?Kenya Airways [KQ] (-5.38%)
?Carbacid Investments Plc [CARB] (-4.49%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 6.8 million traded shares, followed by:

➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (2.37m)
➖ Absa Bank Kenya Plc [ABSA] (1.5m).

The derivatives market had no contracts concluded during today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.

The secondary Bond market at the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded growth in activity with bonds worth Kes 1.43 Billion trading in 75 deals, as compared to Friday’s turnover of Kes 951.7 Million which was achieved in 86 deals.
