At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

A total of 21,169,400 shares in 710 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 638,617,424.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Tuesday, January 28), today’s data shows 106% improvement in volume, 100% improvement in turnover, but 10% decline in deals.

The current NSE market capitalization is KES 2.45 trillion.

In the aggregate, 48 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 12 ✅gainers and 22 ?losers.

Kakuzi Plc [KUKZ] led the gainers with ✅9.68% share price appreciation closing at KES 340.00 per share, followed by:

✅Home Afrika Plc [HAFR] (+6.38%)
✅Nation Media Group Plc [NMG] (+1.45%)
✅Unga Group Plc [UNGA] (+0.97%).

On the losing side, East African Cables Plc [CABL] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?10.13% closing at KES 2.13 per share, followed by:

?WPP ScanGroup Plc [SCAN] (-9.65%)
?Car and General (Kenya) Plc [CGEN] (-7.69%)
?Nairobi Securities Exchange Plc [NSE] (-5.53%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 13.1 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Bank of Kigali Group Plc [BKG] (2.22m)
➖Co-operative Bank of Kenya [COOP] (1.61m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (1.47m).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] dropped ?0.11 points to close at 161.21

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index dropped ?27.10 points to close at 2603.36

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index dropped ?14.54 points to close at 4008.66

The Derivatives Market record a rise in market activities with 13 contracts worth Kes.656,000 transacted in today’s trading session. Six Equity contracts worth Kes.312,000 expiring in 19th March 2020 was concluded at a price of Kes.52.05. This is against an end of day price of Kes.50.50 posted in the spot market as compared to yesterday’s 3 contract trades valued at Kes. 133,250.

The secondary Bond market at the NSE had 65 deals worth Kes 1.96 Billion, a slight decline in value and deals on the Fixed income segment as compared to yesterday’s 45 deals valued at Kes 1.36 Billion
