At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Tuesday, August 31), today’s data shows 8% decline in volume, 37% decline in turnover, and 4% decline in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.77 trillion.

In the aggregate, 44 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 14✅ gainers and 23🔻 losers.

WPP ScanGroup Plc [SCAN] led the gainers with 12.78% share price appreciation closing at✅ KES 4.06 per share, followed by:

✅ Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] (+7.49%)
✅Crown Paints Plc [CRWN] (+7.31%)
✅ ILAM Fahari I REIT [FAHR] (+6.73%).

On the losing side, Olympia Capital Holdings [OCH] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of🔻 8.64% at KES 2.01 per share, followed by:

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

There derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a slump in activity with 2 single stock features valued at Kes 91,300 traded during today’s trading session compared to the 514 single stock features valued at Kes  22.81 million traded during the previous trading session. 

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a rise in today’s trading session, with bonds valued at Kes 731.70 billion transacted in 58 deals compared to the Kes 4.35 billion worth of bonds achieved in  102 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

Market Outlook

WPP scangroup led the gainers today after releasing the financial results for the financial period ended 31st December 2020. The group’s shares were trading between Kes 4.00 and Kes 3.95 per share during today’s trading session at the bourse. The total loss for the year stood at Kes 1.732 billion compared to a profit of kes 158.72 million reported in 2019.
