At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange 

A total of 9,869,400 shares in 1,132 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 332,796,797.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, October 1), today’s data shows 84% improvement in volume, 140% improvement in turnover, and 41% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.76 trillion.

In the aggregate, 49 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 13✅ gainers and 30🔻 losers.

Crown Paints Plc [CRWN] led the gainers with✅ 9.96% share price appreciation closing at KES 30.90 per share, followed by:

✅ Bank of Kigali Group Plc [BKG] (+9.82%)
✅Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (+5.75%)
✅BOC Gases Kenya Plc [BOC] (+5.15%).

On the losing side, Umeme Limited [UMME] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of🔻 5.43% at KES 6.62 per share, followed by:

🔻 Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (-4.68%)
🔻Sasini Plc [SASN] (-4.5%)
🔻 East African Cables Plc [CABL] (-4.43%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 5.96 million traded shares, followed by:

➖ I&M Holdings Plc [IMH](1.53m)
➖ Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (821,000)
➖ KCB Group Plc [KCB] (268,700)

➡️The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] gained✅ 0.69 to close at 181.92
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained✅ 10.44 points to close at 2027.64
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined🔻 7.86 points to close at 3944.31

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a rise in activity with 26 single stock features valued at Kes 1.03 million traded during today’s trading session compared to the 15  single stock features valued at Kes 297,900 traded during the previous trading session.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline during Thursday’s trading session, with bonds valued at Kes 2.30 billion transacted in 77 deals compared to the Kes 2.47 billion worth of bonds achieved in 72 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.
