At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange 

A total of 12,353,200 shares in 1,288 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 352,712,521.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, September 3), today’s data shows 55% decline in volume, 3% improvement in turnover, and 15% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.72 trillion.

In the aggregate, 52 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 13✅ gainers and 27🔻 losers.

Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] led the gainers with 9.88% share price appreciation closing at✅ KES 7.56 per share, followed by :

✅E. A Portland Plc [PORT] (+9.81%)
✅Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (+9.56%)
✅WPP ScanGroup Plc [SCAN] (+9.29%).

On the losing side, Umeme Limited [UMME] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻9.71% at KES 6.32 per share, followed by:

🔻 Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (-7.69%)
🔻Eaagads Plc [EGAD] (-7.5%)
🔻 Express Kenya Plc [XPRS] (-4.76%).

Bamburi Cement Plc [BAMB] recorded the highest volume of 3.28 million traded shares, followed by:

➖ Safaricom Plc [SCOM] (2.35m)
➖ Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (2.02m)
➖ Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (1.74m).

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained✅13.09 points to close at 2038.45
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined🔻26.53 points to close at 3905.97

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

There derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in activity with 25 single stock features valued at Kes 344,800 traded during today’s trading session compared to the 27 single stock features valued at Kes 496,620 traded during the previous trading session. 

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a rise in today’s trading session, with bonds valued at Kes 1.98 billion transacted in 42 deals compared to the Kes 1.39 billion worth of bonds achieved in  55 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.
