At the end of the last weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) this week.

A total of 28,718,900 shares in 1,136 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 1,004,308,811.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Thursday, May 6), today’s data shows 61% improvement in volume, 38% improvement in turnover, and 15% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.58 trillion.

In the aggregate, 42 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 13 gainers and 24 losers.

Standard Group Plc [SGL] led the gainers with 9.97% share price appreciation closing at KES 17.10 per share, followed by:

✅Unga Group Plc [UNGA] (+9.66%)
✅Britam Holdings Plc [BRIT] (+4.17%)
✅BAT Kenya Plc [BAT] (+1.63%).

On the losing side, TPS Eastern Africa Plc [TPSE] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of ?7.50% at KES 14.80 per share, followed by:

?HF Group Plc [HFCK] (-6.12%)
?East African Cables Plc [CABL] (-4.41%)
?Carbacid Investments Plc [CARB] (-4.35%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 15.3 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Equity Group Holdings [EQTY] (3.49m)
➖KCB Group Plc [KCB] (3.22m)
➖Co-operative Bank of Kenya [COOP] (3.2m).

➡️The benchmark NSE All Share Index [NASI] gained ✅0.58 points to close at 171.09

➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained ✅0.68 points to close at 1862.50

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅15.44 points to close at 3725.72

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in activity during today’s trading session, with 34 single stock futures contracts valued at Kes 1.05 million concluded, compared to the 30 SSF contracts valued at Kes 1.22  million concluded during the previous session

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange was flat in activity during today’s trading session with bonds worth Kes 3.23 billion transacted in 78 deals as compared to the Kes 3.26 billion worth of bonds achieved in 86 deals in the preceding session.
