Market Report; 12 July, 2021; Diamond Trust Bank Leads the Banking Sector

At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange

A total of 10,374,100 shares in 1,122 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 374,125,015.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, July 9), today’s data shows 42% decline in volume, 60% decline in turnover, but 14% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.65 trillion.

In the aggregate, 47 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 19✅ gainers and 15🔻 losers.

TPS Eastern Africa Plc [TPSE] led the gainers with✅ 5.63% share price appreciation closing at KES 15.00 per share, followed by:

On the losing side, Jubilee Holdings Plc [JUB] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of🔻 8.97% at KES 355.00 per share, followed by:

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in activity during Today’s trading session, with 27 single stock futures contracts valued at Kes 493,670 concluded, compared to the 25 contracts valued at Kes 854,980 concluded on the previous session.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a rise in activity during today’s trading session with bonds worth Kes 7.66 billion transacted in 175 deals as compared to the Kes 6.15 billion worth of bonds achieved in 116 deals in the preceding session.

Market Outlook

Diamond Trust Bank led the banking sector at the bourse with Kes 4.5 Million shares valued at Kes. 264 Million being traded today. The shares were exchanging hands between Kes 58.00 and Kes 60.00.
