At the end of the first weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange

A total of 15,651,400 shares in 1,127 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 615,823,237.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, September 10), today’s data shows 39% improvement in volume, 54% improvement in turnover, and 7% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.74 trillion.

In the aggregate, 49 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 23✅ gainers and 16🔻 losers.

Liberty Holdings Plc [LBTY] led the gainers with 9.16% share price appreciation closing at✅ KES 8.34 per share, followed by:

✅ Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (+8.76%)
✅ Umeme Limited [UMME] (+7.51%)
✅Williamson Tea Kenya Plc [WTK] (+5.41%).

On the losing side, Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻9.38% at KES 6.18 per share, followed by:

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a rise in activity with 30 single stock features valued at Kes 1.49 million traded during today’s trading session compared to the 25 single stock features valued at Kes 429,580 traded during the previous trading session. 

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in today’s trading session, with bonds valued at Kes 1.95 billion transacted in 23 deals compared to the Kes 2.97 billion worth of bonds achieved in  68 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.
