The derivatives market of the NSE recorded a marginal decline in activity compared to Tuesday’s trading with 9 single stock futures valued at Kes 383,650.

At the end of the last weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) this week.

A total of 5,294,200 shares in 887 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 134,015,482.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Thursday, January 13), today’s data shows 36% decline in volume, 62% decline in turnover, and 7% decline in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.57 trillion.

In the aggregate, 48 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 20 ✅gainers and 18 🔻losers.

Standard Group Plc [SGL] led the gainers with ✅9.93% share price appreciation closing at KES 15.50 per share, followed by:

✅Car and General Kenya Plc [CGEN] (+7.41%)
✅Eaagads Limited [EGAD] (+6.98%)
✅Express Kenya Plc [XPRS] (+6.82%).

On the losing side, Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻9.18% at KES 4.65 per share, followed by:

🔻Sasini Plc [SASN] (-5.18%)
🔻Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (-5.09%)
🔻Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] (-4.35%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 2.01 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] (1.0m)
➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (471,200)
➖I&M Group Plc [IMH] (226,100).

➡️The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] gained ✅ 0.23 to close at 165.09
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained ✅14.17 points to close at 1899.79
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained ✅18.71 points to close at 3685.87

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in value, compared to Tuesday’s trading, with bonds valued at Kes 3.80 billion transacted in 53 deals compared to the Kes 5.66 billion worth of bonds achieved in 92 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a marginal decline in activity compared to Tuesday’s trading with 9 single stock futures valued at Kes 383,650 as compared to the 10 single stock future valued at Kes 410,470 traded during the previous trading session.
