A total of 23,036,400 shares in 1,105 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 968,311,778.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Thursday, October 14), today’s data shows 208% improvement in volume, 354% improvement in turnover, and 6% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.72 trillion.

In the aggregate, 46 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 18✅ gainers and 19🔻 losers.

Trans Century Plc [TCL] led the gainers with 8.53% share price appreciation closing at✅ KES 1.40 per share, followed by:

✅ Olympia Capital Holdings [OCH] (+4.71%)
✅TPS Eastern Africa Plc [TPSE] (+3.56%)
✅ Umeme Limited [UMME] (+2.78%).

On the losing side, Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of🔻 4.17% at KES 0.23 per share, followed by:

🔻 Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (-3.95%)
🔻CIC Insurance Plc [CIC] (-3.58%)
🔻 Williamson Tea Kenya Plc [WTK] (-2.79%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 11.3 million traded shares, followed by:

➖ Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (5.14m)
➖ KCB Group Plc [KCB](2.72m)
➖ Co-operative Bank of Kenya [COOP] (1.44m)

➡️The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] gained✅ 1.76 to close at 178.86
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined🔻2.47 points to close at 1970.44
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained✅ 26.87 points to close at 3867.27

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a rise in activity with 36 single stock features valued at Kes 1.21 Million traded during today’s trading session compared to the 12 single stock features valued at Kes  366,470 traded during the previous trading session.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in activity during Today’s trading session, with bonds valued at Kes 2.07 billion transacted in 87 deals compared to the Kes 2.12 billion worth of bonds achieved in 88 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.
