At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Wednesday, January 19), today’s data shows 36% decline in volume, 30% decline in turnover, and 15% decline in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.56 trillion.

In the aggregate, 51 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 19 ✅gainers and 25 🔻losers.

East African Portland Cement Company Plc [PORT] led the gainers with ✅9.42% share price appreciation closing at KES 7.20 per share, followed by:

✅Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (+4.33%)
✅Crown Paints Kenya Plc [CRWN] (+3.08%).

On the losing side, Trans Century Plc [TCL] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻9.52% at KES 1.33 per share, followed by:

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted moderate growth in value, compared to Tuesday’s trading, with bonds valued at Kes 2.50 billion transacted in 75 deals compared to the Kes 2.24 billion worth of bonds achieved in 78 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange turned lower in activity for today’s trading session compared to Tuesday’s trading with 4 single stock futures valued at Kes 174,050 as compared to the 10 single stock futures valued at Kes 409,100 traded during the previous trading session.
