At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange

A total of 14,724,700 shares in 1,141 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 612,517,663.00 were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Monday, July 19), today’s data shows 14% decline in volume but 5% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.72 trillion.

In the aggregate, 49 NSE listed equities participated in trading, ending with 22 ✅gainers and 19🔻 losers.

Liberty Holdings Plc [LBTY] led the gainers with ✅9.81% share price appreciation closing at KES 9.40 per share, followed by:

✅ TransCentury Plc [TCL] (+8.7%)
✅ Umeme Limited [UMME](+7.56%)
✅ East African Cables Plc [CABL] (+5.26%).

On the losing side, Nairobi Business Ventures[NBV] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of🔻 8.14% at KES 10.15 per share, followed by:

🔻 Kapchorua Plc [KAPC] (-6.12%)
🔻 TPS Eastern Africa Plc [TPSE] (-6%)
🔻 Eveready E.A Plc [EVRD](-5.77%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 8.16 million traded shares, followed by:

➖ KCB Group Plc [KCB] (1.88m)
➖Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Plc [DTK] (424,800)

➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined🔻4.62 points to close at 3892.67

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in activity during Today’s trading session, with 13 single stock futures contracts valued at Kes 568,440 concluded, compared to the 26 contracts valued at Kes 939,320 concluded on the previous session.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in activity during today’s trading session with bonds worth Kes 4.07 billion transacted in 59 deals as compared to the Kes 5.33 billion worth of bonds achieved in  72 deals in the preceding session.

Market Outlook

Safaricom was the main feature today at the bourse representing 57% of the day’s traded value with Kes 8 Million Shares valued at Kes 349 Million which were trading at Kes 42.90
