At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE),

A total of 9,880,000 shares in 761 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 334,158,535.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Wednesday, December 22), today’s data shows 12% improvement in volume but 11% decline in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.58 trillion.

In the aggregate, 42 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 20 gainers and 16 losers.

Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] led the gainers with ✅9.45% share price appreciation closing at KES 2.78 per share, followed by;

✅Eaagads Plc [EGAD] (+7.39%)
✅Bamburi Cement Plc [BAMB](+6.42%)
✅Home Afrika Plc [HAFR] (+5.41%).

On the losing side, Nairobi Business Ventures came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻7.4% at KES 5.76 per share, followed by;

🔻Eveready East Africa Plc [EVRD] (-4.95%)
🔻East African Cables Plc [CABL] (-3.17%)
🔻Liberty Kenya Holdings Plc [LBTY] (-2.76%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 7.03 million traded shares, followed by;

Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (1.3m)
Absa Bank Kenya Plc [ABSA] (301,900)
Co-operative Bank of Kenya Plc [COOP] (278,900).

The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] gained✅3.33 points to close at 170.12
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index gained✅17.61 points to close at 1890.21
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index gained✅43.34 points to close at 3741.95

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE.

Trading on the secondary bond market increased on the Nairobi Securities Exchange compared to Wednesday’s trading, with bonds valued at Kes 4.44 billion transacted in 95 deals compared to the Kes 4.19 billion worth of bonds achieved in 96 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

There were 7 futures contracts valued at Kes 280,350 thousand traded in the derivatives segment on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
