At the end of the last weekday of trading on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE),

A total of 8,416,200 shares in 593 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 305,224,273.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Thursday, December 23), today’s data shows 15% decline in volume, 9% decline in turnover, and 22% decline in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.59 trillion.

In the aggregate, 41 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 16 gainers and 16 losers.

Nation Media Group Plc [NMG] led the gainers with ✅5.28% share price appreciation closing at KES 19.95 per share, followed by;

✅CIC Insurance Group Plc [CIC] (+4.76%)
✅Total Kenya Plc [TOTL] (+3.96%)
✅Diamond Trust Bank Kenya [DTK] (+3.93%).

On the losing side, Olympia Capital Holdings came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻9.64% at KES 1.78 per share, followed by;

🔻Nairobi Business Ventures Plc [NBV] (-6.94%),
🔻Limuru Tea Company Plc [LIMT] (-4.48%) and
🔻Uchumi Supermarket Plc [UCHM] (-4.17%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 4.24 million traded shares, followed by;

➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (1.17m)
➖ScanGroup Plc [SCAN] (899,500)
➖East African Breweries Plc [EABL] (675,800).

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE.

Trading on the secondary bond market declined on the Nairobi Securities Exchange compared to Thursday’s trading, with bonds valued at Kes 3.02 billion transacted in 66 deals compared to the Kes 4.44 billion worth of bonds achieved in 95 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

There were no futures contracts traded in the derivatives segment on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
