A total of 12,871,400 shares in 901 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 488,822,613.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Friday, October 22), today’s data shows 7% improvement in volume, 14% improvement in turnover, but 10% decline in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.68 trillion.

In the aggregate, 45 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 16 ✅gainers and 23 🔻losers.

Eveready E. A Plc [EVRD] led the gainers with✅ 8.89% share price appreciation closing at KES 0.98 per share, followed by:

✅ WPP ScanGroup Plc [SCAN] (+6.32%)
✅ E.A Portland Plc [PORT] (+4.99%)
✅ Sameer Africa Plc [SMER] (+4.3%).

On the losing side, Nairobi Securities Exchange [NSE] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of🔻 8.46% at KES 8.22 per share, followed by:

🔻 TransCentury Plc [TCL] (-7.97%)
🔻 Nation Media Group Plc [NMG] (-7.13%)
🔻 East African Cables Plc [CABL] (-6.94%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 9.91 million traded shares, followed by:

➖Equity Group Holdings Plc [EQTY] (732,400)
➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (559,600)
➖ KCB Group Plc [KCB] (278,400).

➡️The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] declined🔻 1.95 to close at 176.59
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined🔻 15.56 points to close at 1945.20
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined🔻 34.82 points to close at 3830.60

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE

The derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange recorded a decline in activity with 13 single stock features valued at Kes 462,895 traded during today’s trading session compared to the 6 single stock features valued at Kes 279,750 traded during the previous trading session.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in activity during Today’s trading session, with bonds valued at Kes 3.06 billion transacted in 90 deals compared to the Kes 2.32 billion worth of bonds achieved in 83  deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

Market Commentary

Safaricom was today’s main feature at the bourse representing 85.80% of today’s traded value with Kes 9 million shares valued at Kes 419 million traded exchanging hands at between Kes 41.70 and Kes 42.95.
