At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange

A total of 21,730,000 shares in 1,341 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 662,151,568.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Wednesday, August 25), today’s data shows 96% improvement in volume, 67% improvement in turnover, and 8% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.85 trillion.

In the aggregate, 47 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 20✅ gainers and 22 🔻losers.

Uchumi Supermarkets Plc [UCHM] led the gainers with 8.33% share price appreciation closing at✅ KES 0.26 per share, followed by:

✅ BOC Gases Kenya Plc [BOC] (+6.45%)
✅ CIC Insurance Plc [CIC] (+6.23%)
✅Nairobi Securities Exchange Plc [NSE] (+4.64%).

On the losing side, Express Kenya Plc [XPRS] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of🔻 7.97% at KES 3.81 per share, followed by:

🔻 Sameer Africa Plc [SMER](-7.89%)
🔻 WPP ScanGroup Plc [SCAN] (-6.96%)
🔻Olympia Capital Holdings [OCH] (-5%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 8.27 million traded shares, followed by:

There derivatives market of the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in activity with 9 single stock features valued at Kes 255,950 traded during today’s trading session compared to the 20 single stock features valued at Kes 735,850 traded during the previous trading session. 

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted a decline in today’s trading session, with bonds valued at Kes 1.21 billion transacted in 60 deals as compared to the Kes 2.11 billion worth of bonds achieved in  79 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.
