At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE),

A total of 10,347,000 shares in 1,072 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 535,326,210.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Wednesday, January 26), today’s data shows 2% improvement in volume, 48% improvement in turnover, and 8% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.49 trillion.

In the aggregate, 48 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 17 gainers and 24 losers.

BOC Kenya Plc [BOC] led the gainers with ✅9.61% share price appreciation closing at KES 77.00 per share, followed by;

✅Eveready East Africa Plc [EVRD](+6.19%)
✅Kapchorua Tea Company Plc [KAPC] (+5.26%)
✅Uchumi Supermarket [UCHM] (+4.55%).

On the losing side, Nairobi Business Ventures Plc [NBV] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻8.97% at KES 4.97 per share, followed by;

🔻Trans Century Plc [TCL] (-7.46%)
🔻Car and General Kenya Plc [CGEN] (-6.91%)
🔻Longhorn Publishers Plc [LPK] (-6.83%).

KCB Group Plc [KCB] recorded the highest volume of 5.57 million traded shares, followed by;

➖Safaricom Plc [SCOM](2.09m)
➖East African Breweries Plc [EABL] (1.22m)
➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company [KPLC] (267,100).

➡️The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] declined🔻0.32 points to close at 160.02
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index declined🔻3.79 points to close at 1879.15
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index declined🔻4.53 points to close at 3618.76

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE.

Trading on the secondary bond market on the Nairobi Securities Exchange posted an decline in activity, compared to Wednesday’s trading, with bonds valued at Kes 2.37 billion transacted in 133 deals compared to the Kes 3.48  billion worth of bonds achieved in 98 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

There were no derivatives contracts concluded on the  derivatives market of the NSE.
