At the end of today’s trading session on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE),

A total of 2,605,400 shares in 731 deals, corresponding to a market value of KES 74,958,097.00, were traded.

Compared with the previous NSE trading day (Wednesday, December 29), today’s data shows 19% decline in volume but 8% improvement in deals.

The current market capitalization of the Nairobi Securities Exchange is KES 2.51 trillion.

In the aggregate, 37 NSE equities participated in trading, ending with 15 gainers and 12 losers.

Car and General Kenya Plc [CGEN] led the gainers with ✅9.52% share price appreciation closing at KES 33.95 per share, followed by;

✅Home Afrika Plc [HAFR] (+5.41%),
✅CIC Insurance Group Plc [CIC] (+5.05%)
✅Nairobi Business Ventures [NBV] (+3.96%).

On the losing side, Sasini Plc [SASN] came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 🔻9.88% at KES 18.70 per share, followed by;

🔻STANLIB Fahari Income REIT [FAHR] (-3.99%)
🔻Safaricom Plc [SCOM](-2.84%)
🔻Kenya Re-Insurance Corporation Plc [KNRE] (-2.18%).

Safaricom Plc [SCOM] recorded the highest volume of 1.35 million traded shares, followed by;

➖KenGen Plc [KEGN] (193,800)
➖Kenya Power & Lighting Company Plc [KPLC] (151,200)
➖Absa Bank Kenya Plc [KPLC] (122,200).

The benchmark NSE All-Share Index [NASI] shed🔻2.61 points to close at 165.27
➡️The NSE 20 Share Index shed🔻1.68 points to close at 1897.62
➡️The NSE 25 Share Index shed🔻25.71 points to close at 3715.09

Bonds & Derivatives on NSE.

Trading on the secondary bond market increased on the Nairobi Securities Exchange compared to Wednesday’s trading, with bonds valued at Kes 1.33 billion transacted in 57 deals compared to the Kes 0.69 billion worth of bonds achieved in 49 deals traded at the close of the previous trading session.

There were 2 futures contracts valued at Kes 78,260 thousand traded in the derivatives segment on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
